Through the company’s official website, Apple said the iPod Touch will be available “while supplies last”. This also marks the end of the iPod brand as one of the company’s products that has existed for two decades.

The music player made by Apple made its debut in 2001. Its long existence cannot be separated from Apple’s role in developing the iPod, starting from the design that originally had a button to a touch screen, to its increasingly sophisticated features.

iPod 2001

Apple founder Steve Jobs commissioned Apple’s then VP of Industrial Design, Jonathan Ive and a group of the company’s hardware engineers to create the iconic music player. The result, created the 5GB iPod which was launched on October 23, 2001 which can accommodate up to 1,000 songs.

The second generation iPod was launched by Apple on July 17, 2002, only 9 months after the first iPod. The innovation added to the iPod gen-2 is support for Windows computer users.
