MAMUT WVH, the solo project of Wolfgang Van Halen, performed his first concert as an act of support to GUNS N ROSES last night (Saturday, July 31) at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Below are video footage shot by fans of the show.
Last month, Wolfgang told Ultimate Classic Rock that he was “very nervous” about opening for GUNS N ROSES. «I am a very anxious person. But in a fun way, it’s very similar to how I started in FROM HALEN, where the first show I put on was at a stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. This time, it’s at a stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania. So it’s following in a really fun way, but it’s definitely still scary. It is an honor to be there… and I will do my best.
Wolfgang He said he had never been to a GUNS N ROSES concert before. “I’m actually very excited, as a fan, to be able to see them,” he said. “I knew they were going to leave, and it all fell into place very well when our things came out. MAMUT WVHtouring lineup features Wolfgang on guitar and lead vocals, Frank Sidoris (SLASH WITH MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS) on the guitar, Jon jourdan on guitar and voice, Garrett Whitlock (TREMONTI) on the battery, and Ronnie Ficarro on the bass.
MAMUT WVHThe self-titled debut album was released on June 11 via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records.
Last November, Wolfgang confirmed that he asked his father, legendary FROM HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen, to obtain permission to use the MAMUT WVH band name for his solo project. MAMUT WVH is a nod to family history – Eddie Y Alex Van Halenthe band was called MAMUT when singer David Lee Roth joined him for the first time in 1974.
