Where is Wendy Williams? Wendy Williams’ niece speaks about her decision to share her story in new doc
Ahead of the premiere of the upcoming Lifetime documentary, “Where is Wendy Williams?”, Wendy Williams’ niece, Alex Finnie, has recently opened up in an exclusive interview with “Good Morning America” to discuss her aunt’s decision to share her story at this particular moment.
A Choice of Empowerment
Addressing the criticism that the documentary might exploit Williams, Finnie revealed that her aunt considers it a means of reclaiming her narrative and embracing empowerment.
Finnie, who also appears in the documentary, shared, “But I will say this, first and foremost, my aunt is the executive producer of this documentary.”
During their conversation, Finnie pointed out that she specifically inquired why Williams had chosen to share her story and whether the timing was appropriate. Williams responded, “Now is the perfect time because I wanna take ownership of my story.”
Tune in to “Good Morning America” on Thursday at 7 a.m. ET for the full interview with Finnie.
Showing the Reality
“Where is Wendy Williams?” is set to explore the life of the former talk show host following the conclusion of her renowned daytime program, as well as her ongoing battles with health issues and substance abuse.
The press release for the two-night documentary event mentioned that cameras followed Williams for nearly two years after her talk show concluded in 2022. Her health struggles prevented her return for a 13th season.

“Where is Wendy Williams?” is set to premiere on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25, exclusively on Lifetime.
