The artist presents each audiovisual work with her authentic style, which reflects classical music in a fresh and modern light. The video was filmed in various places in Latvia, including Baldone Observatory.
“In these long, depressing days, living from one house to another, each of us fantasizes about living in a parallel world where sharing, immersion and full devotion to ideas, dreams and music would be possible,” says Balanas.
“I am grateful that in these difficult times I had the opportunity to continue playing music, remotely. However, this dream of an alternative world, the opportunity to get out of the lonely cities of our time, our quiet world, inspired me. I imagine a planet, a new universe created only out of a love of music, its beauty and magic. “Ad Astra” is a small insight into this fantasy – a fantasy that is unfortunately not “immune” to a reality that tries to incarnate uninvited. In this music video, I only have time to to finish the piece before everything is gone and we return here again, in reality, waiting for everything and the beloved to return to our lives, ” says the musician.
Violinist Kristīne Balanas, which the British newspaper “The Times” called a “shocking virtuoso” musician and the international newspaper “The Strad” described as “wild, fearless and dramatic”, in 2018 received the Grand Music Award as the best young artist of the year in Latvia, as well as Young Talent Excellence Foundation Award from Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain. Kristine has played as a soloist with some of the world’s most prestigious orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Paris Chamber Orchestra, and has given concerts at the Berlin Philharmonic, Southbank Art Center in London and Carnegie Hall in New York.
The young violinist is grateful to the Institute of Astronomy of the University of Latvia, Ilgmārs Eglītis, Kalvis Celmiņš, Sigulda Concert Hall “Baltais flīģelis” and Juris Lisenko and the Grand Guild.
