A trailer for Elza Gauja’s documentary “Meanwhile in Lucavsala” has been published, which gives viewers an insight into the mood of the film. The film will be screened after Easter, the premiere will take place on April 21 at the cinema “Splendid Palace”, after which the film will be available throughout Latvia.

Among the holidaymakers of Lucavsala are young eco-activists, copiers, ladies with handkerchiefs on their heads, families with many children, barbecues on Sundays, organizers of spiritual festivals; also alcoholics – arsonists, homeless people, party organizers, archaeologists’ club enthusiasts and residents of semi – legally built “huts”. Some of them resemble decent private houses in terms of size. And this glorious bouquet is only a 10-minute drive from the Old Town, hidden from the sight of careless passers-by.

With a light dose of humor, the director looks at the unique European environment of Lucavsala’s small gardens. In this oasis, located in the heart of the city, very different and colorful people meet. The future of Lucavsala is uncertain – it will be decided in a struggle between green-minded eco-idealists and pragmatic businessmen.

It should be noted that the director of the film Elza Gauja This week, with the support of the State Culture Capital Fund, the shooting of the film “Paskarte no Roma” with Jānis Jarāns and Indra Burkovskis in the main roles will start.

The director and screenwriter of the film “Meanwhile in Lucavsala” is Elza Gauja, the cinematographer is Jānis Rubenis, the editing director is Jurģis Ločmelis, the producer and musician is Andris Gauja. The film was made with the financial support of the State Culture Capital Fund, the National Cinema Center and the Riga City Council. Production studio – Riverbed, which is known to the general public with Andris Gauja’s feature films “Release Year” and “Nothing Will Stop Us”.
