Watch Thing Spook Pedestrians on Wednesdays in NYC

The Thing is unquestionably the star of Netflix Wednesday! A staple of the Addams Family lore, Thing has been a fan favorite since the beginning. In the new series, he is Wednesday’s accomplice and the only one whose wounds brought our otherwise emotionless heroine to tears. Netflix recently launched The Thing onto the streets of New York and its interactions with people are nothing short of hilarious.

The streamer posted a new clip on Twitter of Thing “doing his thing” and wrote, “We unleashed Thing on the streets of NYC to surprise and delight fans on Wednesday.” The reactions of passers-by range from panicked cries and crying children to sheer amazement. Let’s see what to go skateboarding, scare pigeons and make friends with dogs. For the entertainment of the people, she also goes on the subway and takes a selfie. However, the funniest part is that she surprises people with her mere presence. This just goes to show how “norms” would react if Thing were in the real world.

In Wednesday, Tim Burton and showrunners Al-Gough et Miles Millar made an interesting choice to present a person as the Thing, as they used to do, rather than create them digitally. It is played by a Romanian magician, Victor Dorobantu. In footage previously released by the streamer, we see the roasting process to bring the Thing to life as Dorobantu is seen head-to-toe in a blue suit in various awkward positions to properly portray the characters. The hard work paid off as viewers really feel Thing is sentient and everyone gasped when we saw him stabbed in a column in the final episode.

Wednesday is a brilliant performance of the daughter of the Addams family who in previous versions was limited to morbid acts and witty banter. Taking her out of the traditional setup and bringing her to Nevermore Academy made her more accessible. The creators gave it a decent emotional arc while keeping her essence intact. In the new series we see Wednesday solve a multi-layered mystery involving her parents, her new school and her friends. The series fits perfectly into modern times and has been a huge success for the streamer.

Alike Jenna Ortega in the lead role, the series also features Gwendoline Christie as Principal Larissa Weems, Hunter Doohan like tyler, Percy Hynes Blanc like Xavier, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, alongside Catherine Zeta Jones such as Morticia Addams, e Louis Guzman like Gomez Addams.
