A boxer’s gang turns their corner into an emergency barbershop in a frantic attempt to save their fight.
American middleweight Austin Dianda faces DeAndre Pettus in Norfolk, Virginia, on Friday night, looking to build on his 15-0 professional record.
But disaster struck for Deyanda in the third round when a flurry of punches unraveled his braids and blocked his vision.
Desperate times again called for desperate measures in the corner as their trainers formed a three-man scissors tribe that would become a masterstroke.
But Dianda insisted on doing things right and did not want to despair with her style, ordering: ‘Cut it perfect!’
American middleweight Austin Dianda had to cut his hair mid-fight when it started blocking his view.
His braid came undone after the fight but he still won after a cut.
As one man applies ice to his face, another takes the blades to a section of hair and issues the alarming warning: ‘I’m a cutman, not a barber!’
And those words proved true as he tore off a large chunk of the warrior’s locks in a single blow with no regard for style as the clock ticked down.
Then, inexplicably, Deanda’s hair was thrown into a bucket.
Where he was missing hair, the 21-year-old got a new lease on life by triumphing in a fight against Pettus.
Dianda has yet to add another knockout to his 10 KOs so far, but has extended his winning streak to 16 of 16 fights.
One fan on social media said: “At least people got free haircuts.”
Another criticized the persistent barber despite his heroism: “He cut too much.”
Dianda wore a black cap while celebrating, perhaps suggesting he wasn’t too impressed with his new adornment.
Goodbye, Old Friend: Deander had to settle for a spot in a bucket after cutting off his bobbed locks.
At least a few big names managed to impress that night.
He was fighting on the same card as Keyshawn Davis, beating 25-year-old Gustavo Lemos, who missed weight by more than six pounds.
Davis called out lightweight champions Gervanta Davis and Dennis Barinchik.
‘A world title (whatever follows). 2025 We have big plans for everyone in the boxing world. “Ai Garvonta, knock, knock,” he said.
