Qalyubia Governorate, in coordination with the General Authority for Roads and Bridges, pushed huge cranes to raise the refrigerator pedestrian bridge in the West Shubra Al-Khaima district on the Cairo-Alexandria Agricultural Road, after it fell at dawn today, Thursday, without any injuries or human losses.
The governor of Qalyubia stated that work will be done to restore traffic on the Cairo-Alexandria Agricultural Road within the scope of the accident again in front of travelers on the road to prevent disruption of their interests, and the car that caused the accident is being pursued and seized.
The General Directorate of Qalyubia Traffic appealed to motorists and motorists to take alternative routes to enter the Shubra al-Khaimah area on the Cairo-Alexandria agricultural road, due to the fall of the refrigerator pedestrian bridge on the agricultural road in both directions within the West Shubra al-Khaimah neighborhood.
The General Directorate of Qalyubia Traffic stated that the road has been diverted to those coming from Al-Mazaleb to the agricultural road, taking the Sharkawiya Bridge and then the Ring Road, and those coming from Qalyub taking the Ring Road and Long Live Egypt Bridge.
Abdel Hamid Al-Hagan, the governor of Qalyubia, had moved, as soon as he learned, at 3:30 a.m. today, Thursday, to the site of the fall of the refrigerator pedestrian bridge on the agricultural road in both directions within the West Shubra Al-Khaima neighborhood.
The Governor explained that the fall resulted from the collision of a winch loaded with an excavator with the body of the pedestrian bridge, and no loss of life occurred.
The Operations and Crisis Management Room in the governorate had received a report at around 3:30 a.m. today, Thursday, that the refrigerator pedestrian bridge had fallen on the agricultural road in the West Shubra Al-Khaima district, without causing any losses.
The governor of Al-Qalyubia, the head of the West Shubra Al-Khaima neighborhood, assigned the formation of an engineering committee from the city and the Roads and Bridges Authority to inspect the place and prepare a full report on the accident.
