Watch…the moment a boy was saved from flooding caused by Hurricane Milton

A New Jersey man has pleaded guilty to committing a hate crime in violation of federal laws at Rutgers University by vandalizing property at the Center for Islamic Life, in what the Justice Department described as “hate-motivated acts with hostility to Islam.”

The incident took place in April, on Eid al-Fitr, according to what Reuters reported.

Human rights groups have monitored an increase in threats against American Muslims, Arabs, and Jews since the start of Israel’s wars in Gaza and Lebanon following an attack launched by gunmen from the Hamas movement on October 7, 2023.

Universities have seen a number of these practices in recent months. A man who admitted to threatening violence against Jews at Cornell University was sentenced to 21 months in prison.

“This defendant is responsible for acts of hate motivated by Islamophobia,” Assistant District Attorney Christine Clark said Thursday.

The Ministry of Justice said that the accused, Jacob Beecher (24 years old), broke into the center and damaged property there, including antiquities of an Islamic nature and items containing verses from the Qur’an, adding that he stole the Palestinian flag.
