Train services were halted in several areas, while New York firefighters said they had received reports of glass and other debris raining down on 57th Street. Investigators have not yet determined the source of the debris, as construction sites in the area had already been secured.
No injuries were reported, despite the intensity of the storm which felled trees in many areas.
