The ninth day of the lunar new year is the birthday of the Jade Emperor, and every household will hold sacrificial ceremonies from Zishi (11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.) to 7:00 a.m. the next day. The offerings are prepared with five fruits and six fasts, flowers, and vegetarian food must be prepared because killing is forbidden in heaven.
