The police asks all participants in traffic: #Passauf!
The most serious traffic accidents occur in the Paderborn district outside of built-up areas. Distraction from smartphones and other electronic devices is one of the main causes of accidents.
The police in the Paderborn district observed the increasing use of smartphones while driving with great concern. As a result, drivers or cyclists are massively distracted mentally. Even a quick glance at the display means a life-threatening risk!
If you turn away from the road for two seconds at a driven 50 km / h to look at the display, you are driving almost 30 meters blind! Telephoning at the wheel without a hands-free system is just as dangerous as 0.8 per thousand alcohol in the blood; if you write a text message, you react like a driver with 1.1 per thousand in the blood.
If you use a smartphone while driving, you are not only endangering yourself, but also other road users.
You are on the safe side if you simply keep your smartphone out of reach while driving – then you will not be tempted to check your text messages while you are driving.
If you want or need to make a call, do so using the hands-free facility or use a suitable option to hold. You can use your mobile phone when the engine is switched off.
