The chairman of the WWTP, Jiří Kejval, explains what it will be like to vaccinate Czech Olympians.
Last year’s memento, however, remains, at that time the deduction for the Olympic start did not reach the target of one hundred days. Now the preparations are much further, including the Czech ones, although changes in the regime of the Olympics may come at the last minute.
So far, it is certain that foreign fans will not come to Japan, the length of stay of athletes in the Olympic Village and their movement around Tokyo will be limited. “For example, we originally planned the Czech House largely with the promotion of industry and tourism, in the end it will be dedicated only to athletes,” Kejval describes one of the forced changes.
Tightening of the measures due to coronavirus is being prepared in the Olympics venue again

“We will have a special function of a liaison officer for covid, who will be in charge of all processes, in order to protect the athletes as much as possible from going through the green ambulance to the isolation instead of the race. They will practically not meet at training camps in Japan, and there will be three empty rows of seats in front of and behind the team during the flight to Tokyo, ”describes the measures of the WWTP sports director Martin Doktor.

However, the voluntary vaccination of athletes, who have so far qualified 44 from the Czech Republic, needs to be resolved in advance. The International Olympic Committee offers a Chinese vaccine that is not approved in the Czech Republic, and so Kejval et al. they are waiting for their turn at home.
“In Japan, there is a legitimate fear that the disease will not drag on there or we will drag it back. There is no official agreement with the Ministry of Health yet, but according to the preliminary one, perhaps we should have the opportunity, “says the chairman of the WWTP.
Do you get vaccinated? |
Zuzana Hejnová (obstacle course): “I’m not thinking about it yet, mainly because there are a lot of people in front of me who need it more. I haven’t had Covid according to the antibody test, I travel a lot and I meet people, so I think I have a pretty good immunity. “ |
Josef Dostál (kayaker): “I’ve had Covid, so I can’t get vaccinated yet, but I’ll want to. It’s just a burden on the body for at least a few days, so I have to agree with officials and doctors when it would be ideal. It will not work in full training. “ |
Tereza Ďurdiaková (pedestrian): “I’m considering it. I’ve been through Covid too, and I didn’t like it at all, even though I didn’t have to go to the hospital. The Olympics have always been my dream, so I’m afraid I won’t get infected again and my dream doesn’t fade. “ |
