One more week, to be exact November 1, 2021, WhatsApp will discontinue its support to a number of HP Android and iPhones. As a result, users are threatened in terms of security and they are blocked from new features.
“WhatsApp will no longer support Android phones running OS 4.0.4 and earlier on November 1, 2021. Please switch to a supported device or save your chat history before that date,” WhatsApp wrote on the Android FAQ page.
Policy WhatsApp this is not without purpose. They want to focus on developing features on newer devices.
To help WhatsApp has shared a list of devices that no longer support the service starting November 1, 2021.
In general, the cellphone will be blocked if it is still running Android 4.0.3 or lower, or iOS 9 or earlier.
Well if you are still using an Android phone or iPhone with the aforementioned operating system, it’s a good idea to update to a newer version. If you have a budget, there’s no harm in considering buying the latest Android and iPhone series.
It should be noted, even though it is no longer supported, it does not mean that WhatsApp will stop working on the cellphone. You can still send messages, but they don’t get the very important security updates. Not to mention the new features that provide an even better experience when messaging.
How to find out the HP OS version:
- iPhone users can go to Settings > General > About, see the iOS version.
- Android users can go to Settings and then About Phone (usually at the bottom). Then see which Android version is running
