VIVA – Supplement sells hard in the market because it is believed that its benefits can maintain endurance and support health. But researchers are concerned, because in some cases the side effects of the supplements may outweigh the benefits.
In fact, some dietary supplements can trigger diseases such as: cancer, or hinder the efficacy of treatment for the disease. Moreover, certain supplements, such as antioxidants, are often taken with cancer treatments such as chemotherapy.
It has long been believed that antioxidant supplements offer protection against cancer development, as they are able to neutralize reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can damage DNA.
In fact, studies have historically linked the presence of antioxidants with reduced free radical damage, a hallmark of cancer development.

In one study led by the University of the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, researchers observed this effect after adding antioxidants to the diet of rats with lung cancer.
The findings showed that the cancer prognosis in mice deteriorated significantly after they followed a diet mixed with antioxidant supplements. Not only that, further research by the same team revealed, a significant relationship between antioxidant supplements and increased growth of severe malignant melanoma.
