The folk group “Upīte” has released a music clip in the Christmas mood – about the path, self-search, obstacles and choices, the main one being to bring light and be a light ourselves, despite everything we experience is in everyday reality and in the context of world events.

In the clip, as in the song, the ethnic and the vernacular meet the urban, escaping, connecting and finally complementing each other. The area of u200bu200bthe former Kuprava factory in the Balvi district was chosen as the filming location, which symbolically fits perfectly into the connection between the past heritage and modernity, the portal “Delphi” is informed by representatives of the folklore ensemble.
The Kuprava Sewage Pipe Factory, built in 1972, is located in the industrial building where the clip was filmed. In 1992 the factory went out of business.
The clip was made as a continuation of the series of video clips for songs from the album of the folk group “Padzīdam i…”, and this time the story of the song “Sabarovu kumelini” was told, the musicians say. The authors of the arrangement are Kate Slišane, Domeniks Slišanes and Artūrs Slišanes.
The author of the costumes and ideas of the clip is the multi-artist Evika Muizniece, in collaboration with whom the previous music clips of the folklore group “Upīte” were also made.
The audiovisual work was created with the support of the State Fund for Culture and its main goals are to create a new and modern interpretation of traditional Latvian music performed by the folk group “Upīte” and popularize traditional music in a modern sound among the young people, promoting interest in intangible heritage and the Latvian language.
As Andris Slišāns, head of the “Upīte” Intangible Cultural Center points out: “I’m glad that the folk group “Upīte” is approaching the set goal of creating a video story for the men’s song album “Padzīdam i.. .” , this is already the sixth music clip, there are only eleven songs and then you can already enjoy the overall story of the album”.
