How does this work in practice? Vanderveken and Van Marsenille spend a day in a daycare center for the VRT1 program “Factcheckers”: two for 18 children. Some practical problems soon arise. This makes it impossible to take a break. “I could actually have a coffee now, but that’s not possible,” says Van Marsenille.

Eventually, Lauren, a childcare worker, joins in to relieve the duo so they can take a break. “I can drink coffee now, but in principle I don’t have time for that,” Van Marsenille explains. “We have a bit of a luxury situation now.” Lauren agrees. “If there are two of us, we cannot take a break, even though we have the right to do so.”
