Actress Elizabeth Taylor’s dress, which she wore to win an Oscar for Best Female Role in ‘Butterfield 8’ (1961), has been listed for sale for £60,000 (more than $72,000).
This outfit, created by French designer Marc Bohan for the Christian Dior fashion house, is “one of the pearls of fashion,” as the newspaper (Russia Today) says.
The firm had long believed that the famous fashion staple was in its archives in Paris.
However, it was recently discovered, according to the newspaper, that Taylor had given it to the wife of his bodyguard, Anna Sanz, who then kept it for 51 years.
The dress is expected to sell on December 6 at Kerry Taylor Auctions in London.
