From the Latvian choral music repertoire, the singing Belarusians have chosen Raimonds Tiguls’ song “Lec, saulīte!” in the words of Rasa Bugavičute-Poe.

The song was first performed in 2014 in the summer solstice performance “Lec, saulīte!”, Which was part of the program of Riga – the European Capital of Culture and took place on the Grand Stage of Mežaparks. In 2018, the song “Lec, saulīte!” was already included in the Song Festival repertoire.

Alexander Maslov, the author of the idea of ​​”Singing Belarusians”, says that the project was born at a time when Belarusians are experiencing a huge period of national unity, focusing on values ​​such as goodness and justice.

“Belarusians are peacefully opposed to evil, violence and rudeness. The Belarusian people have not remained indifferent during the moral crisis, we are united and aware of their unity. The Belarusian people have the same values ​​as the whole world – freedom, self-respect, culture. Freedom has no nationality and no borders, “says the author of the project idea in his address.
