British company Biwater has won a new contract in Morocco. It has entered into an agreement with the Régie Autonome de Kenitra (RAK) to design and build a new wastewater treatment facility in Moulay Bousselham, a fishing village and a tourist destination located in Kénitra.
The design and build contract is already underway with civil works underway, says Biwater, adding the new plant to perform pre-treatment, biological treatment and advanced tertiary treatment, including closed low-pressure ultraviolet disinfection.
“The objective of this project is to protect the lagoon and Moulay Bousselham beach from discharged wastewater and to recharge the water table,” said Yassine Laib, Country Manager of Biwater for Morocco. Biwater had notably won a turnkey contract from the National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) to design and build a new wastewater treatment plant in the coastal town of Tarfaya in southern Morocco .
