BGN 12,000 in salary and bonuses was received by the deputy director at the Waste Plant in Sofia. There, an inspection commissioned by the mayor, Vasil Terziev, found a bunch of violations, which he gave to the prosecutor’s office yesterday.
One of the most egregious is that they failed to account for the 8 to 12 tons of trash that was dumped.
The director of the enterprise, Nikolay Savov, reported that out of 47 main machines, 39 of them are for major repairs. “In the RDF fuel building, out of 136 machines, 86 are for major repairs. In the last three years, more than 470 contracts were signed, and BGN 113 million of the money was spent, and it should be for spare parts,” said Savov. He stated that the equipment was supplied at very high prices, with the order being won by a single company. “Much of the equipment is not reflected in the system, which is supposed to control when it entered the system and when it did not enter. The most interesting thing is a belt conveyor, which on May 31 was accepted as a fixed asset, 47 days later it is cut into scrap, without having confirmation that he went to work at all,” explained Terziev.
