Washington responsible for the sabotage of Nord Stream, according to a famous American journalist – RT in French

According to a blog post by journalist Seymour Hersh, the United States was behind the spectacular sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in September. The White House disputes these claims.

In an article published on a blog presented as his own, Seymour Hersh – a famous American investigative journalist specializing in defense issues and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of the My Lai massacre during the Vietnam War – writes that US Navy divers, aided by Norway, planted explosives on these gas pipelines linking Russia and Germany under the Baltic Sea in June, setting them off three months later.

Western countries had accused Russia of being responsible for these impressive leaks preceded by underwater explosions. But the investigations carried out by the Swedish, Danish and German authorities have not yet made it possible to determine who is responsible.

According to journalist Seymour Hersh, who relies on a single anonymous source, US President Joe Biden had himself decided to blow up these gas pipelines in order to deprive Moscow of the staggering revenues from its gas sales to Europe. Washington also considered that Nord Stream 1 and 2 gave Russia an important means of pressure on Germany and the countries of Western Europe, advance Seymour Hersh.

The journalist assures that the idea had been raised in December 2021, before the plan was designed by the CIA.

The American authorities have for their part firmly denied the assertions of Seymour Hersh. This information is “totally false” and is “pure fiction”, retorted Adrienne Watson, spokeswoman for the National Security Council of the White House. Same echo at the CIA, where a spokesperson assured that the article was “absolutely false”.
