Washington Wizards have knocked down the best team of the season. Utah Jazz, a team that accumulated 24 wins in a row on their court, has seen how those of the capital, led by Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal, have been the first to take over the Vivint Smart Home Arena since the distant January 1, 2021.
“They were too comfortable at first. When you allow that kind of play, everyone is having fun. Everyone on the court ends up having their little moment, ”says Rudy Gobert.
The French pivot is right. Russell Westbrook posted a triple-double of 25 points, 14 rebounds and 14 assists. Beal went up to 34 points and 5 assists. Daniel Gafford equaled his best mark of the season with 15 points. All contributed to achieve an income that reached 19 points midway through the last quarter. Utah reacted, but it was late. Beal and Westbrook closed the game from the free throw line.
“I like how the boys are playing. Everyone is accepting their roles. When you have a healthy squad, which is something we haven’t had in a long time, it’s definitely nice, “says Scott Brooks, the Wizards head coach, pleased by his pupils’ third win in four games.
Utah lost, but not through lack of success. Donovan Mitchell went up to 42 points and Bojan Bogdanovic achieved his best mark of the season with 33 points. The problem was not in attack, and that way Quin Snyder analyzed it.
“We didn’t have the right approach when it came to defending. In the first half, we gave such an advantage over a long period of time that it made it very difficult for us even when we started to play better in defense in the final part of the game, ”he explains. Despite the loss, those from Salt Lake City continue in the first position of the Western Conference with 40-14.
