Today, Friday, the US administration commented on the joint tripartite statement issued by Saudi Arabia, Iran and China to resume Saudi-Iranian diplomatic relations.

The Reuters news agency quoted a White House national security spokesman as saying: “Washington is aware of reports of the resumption of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia.”

He added, “In general, Washington welcomes any efforts that help end the war in Yemen and reduce tension in the Middle East.”

He continued, “De-escalation and diplomacy, along with deterrence, are among the main pillars of the policy outlined by President Joe Biden during his past visit to the region.”
