Jayden Daniels and the Washington Cardinals, fresh off a big win, will look to maintain their road momentum against the heavily favored Arizona Cardinals. It’s also a homecoming of sorts for Daniels, who began his college career at Arizona before transferring to LSU. The same can be said for Daniels’ offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, who was the Cardinals’ head coach from 2019 to 2022.
Daniels and Kingsbury return to the desert as Washington (2-1) enjoys its first victory since the start of last season. Daniels was nearly perfect in the Commanders’ 38-33 win at Cincinnati on Monday night. He was responsible for three touchdowns and set a rookie single-game completion rate record (91.3 percent) in his matchup with fellow Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow.
Daniels teamed up with Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler (who suffered a concussion Monday night) to form a multiple offense for Washington. However, Ekeler was sent off in this match. Even without Ekeler, Daniels and Robinson could pose problems for an Arizona defense that gave up 187 rushing yards to Detroit in last week’s 20-13 loss.
Kyler Murray, another member of the Heisman fraternity, is off to a good start for the Cardinals (1-2). He has thrown five touchdown passes and just one interception in the first three games and is averaging more than 10 yards per carry. After an incredibly quiet debut, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has made his presence known (three touchdowns in the last two games) and the rookie will be the centerpiece of a Chiefs defense that is still figuring out the new team’s system. head coach Dan Quinn. It’s still early, but Washington ranks next to last in passing yards per game and third-down conversions allowed (61.3 percent).
Combine the dynamic quarterbacks with both teams’ defensive deficiencies and add some extra motivation for some of the participants, and this could be one of the most interesting matchups on the Week 4 slate.
