A wild turkey is causing a stir in the US capital Washington. The animal consistently attacks runners, walkers, and people on bicycles on the Riverwalk Trail, a popular recreation area along the Anacostia River.
As the “Wall Street Journal” (“WSJ”) reports, sightings of the almost one meter tall male animal are increasing. More than a dozen people have reported being attacked by a turkey, with some requiring medical attention and preventive tetanus shots, the newspaper said.
“There’s a terror turkey roaming the Riverwalk Trail. If I hadn’t seen the videos, I would have thought it was an urban legend,” Dan Rauch of the city’s Energy and Environment Agency told WSJ. The biologist is part of a team tasked with catching the feathered attacker – so far without success.
