Yesterday, the United States of America offered a $10 million reward to anyone who provides information on senior leaders of the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab terrorist movement in Somalia.
Washington has awarded these funds to those who provide information on the three most important leaders of the “al-Shabaab” militia, namely “Mahd Kartay, Jihad Mustafa and Ahmed Diri”.
In a joint press conference, US Ambassador to Somalia Larry Andre and Deputy US Ambassador to Kenya Marcy Dillard announced that the US government had offered a $10 million reward in exchange. of information on “Jihad Mustafa, Ahmed Diri and Mahd Kartay.” The reward will also be given to anyone who provides information on the financial sources of the “Al-Shabab” militia.
On the other hand, the US Deputy Ambassador to Kenya said that the US government is helping the Somali government eliminate Al-Shabaab fighters.
On the security front, new battles have broken out in the Hiran region of central Somalia between the Somali army, supported by tribal forces, and elements of the “Al-Shabaab” terrorist movement.
Local sources report that the clashes erupted after the army forces launched a multi-directional attack against the positions taken by the “Al-Shabaab” movement in the area after crossing the “Shabelle” river by boat.
A Somali army officer indicated that allied forces defeated “Al-Shabaab” fighters who crossed the river to carry out an attack in the eastern regions of the “Hiran” region.
