Was on his way to the Elite Series before the counter message came:

It has been over three years since Thomas Rekdal chose to invest in a professional life in Germany. For the past year, the 21-year-old has played in Stuttgart, but now he is clear that he wants to return to Norway.

– It’s been a bit tricky. It has been a process ever since the beginning of January. I want to get away from here and home to Norway or Scandinavia to play first team football. I am absolutely ready for that and need it for my career to pick up speed, says Thomas Rekdal to TV 2.

Through the transfer window, Rekdal, who for the rest is the nephew of Rosenborg coach Kjetil Rekdal, has had several suitors from the Eliteserien. Until yesterday, the main character had a hope of becoming an Odd player. That’s not how it will be.

– Of course I’m disappointed. For me, there has been hope until yesterday. The hope has been there for quite some time, but then came a final no, says Rekdal and elaborates:

– It is as simple as there are three parties in a deal. Two of them have done what they can, but Stuttgart said no. It was as simple as that. I think both I and my agent have done what we can to make it happen, but when verbal promises from the club are not kept it is difficult to make it work. I understand that the club has to think for itself, but it’s awkward.

Now the midfield talent hopes that he will find a solution at the end of the season. Hope is that I can find a solution this summer, Stuttgart has also been open sheep. But now the focus is on football and on performing on the field, he concludes.

– I chose to take that step here to try to join a Bundesliga team. In retrospect, it was not the best choice, but I can not do anything about it now.
