British-born Driver became world-famous when she played in “The Circle of Friends”, but her career only really took off when she played medical student and Matt Damon’s girlfriend in the Oscar-winning “Good Will Hunting” (1997).
The latter film was Damon and his childhood friend Ben Affleck’s project, the two both played the lead roles and were behind the script. They were awarded the Oscar for screenplay, and Robin Williams received the award for best supporting actor. Minnie Driver herself was nominated for best supporting actress.

In the autobiography, Driver remembers the first time she met Damon and Affleck. According to her, the two must have appeared an hour late and stumbled into the meeting in a hotel suite, hungover and full of excuses about a bent foot.
– It was like a bunch of really cute labradors falling in and I was just like this: «Wow, wrote these boys [»Good Will Hunting»]? tells Driver in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Predicted the breakup
In the interview, Driver reveals that people close to her warned her against getting drunk by the moment and helped her keep perspective on life:
– My family loved Matt, it was not about that. They could only see that this young man was about to launch at rocket speed and so was I. When you are young, it is quite difficult to maintain ground contact, the 52-year-old believes.
The family must have anticipated that the relationship would “end badly for reasons that have to do with everything coming together in a perfect storm”.
– Besides, you should not date someone you work with, Driver reveals about the family’s advice.
–The break-up between the two stars was a fact when Damon denied that he had a girlfriend during a guest appearance on the talk show “The Oprah Winfrey Show”.
The former girlfriends had been dating for a year.
In retrospect, it emerged that not only were the fans surprised and disappointed by the information; Minnie Driver herself found out about the breach on television.
– A flammable end
Matt Damon thus appeared in a very public way, in front of millions of TV viewers, without having informed her in advance.
Driver himself has criticized this afterwards and Damon’s method has ended up on lists of cruel ways to dump his girlfriend. However, she emphasizes in the Entertainment interview that she retells the story of herself and Damon with love.
– It was a sweet love affair, but it had a flammable ending that became the focus.

The film was a critically acclaimed mega-success and received nine Oscar nominations. It won for best screenplay and best male supporting role.
However, the romance between the two main characters ended before the awards ceremony started.
– I do not care who you are, it is pain and it is like a strange, surreal dream, Driver tells about his experience of being in the media spotlight and at the same time have love grief.
–She thanks her father Ronnie Driver for the advice that finally got her on her feet:
– I was obviously completely crushed over this boy that I loved. He was now with another, says Driver and remembers how she was sitting on the stairs outside her house in London when her father came out to go for a jog.
When he discovered his daughter on the stairs, he is said to have said that even though she did not want to hear it, she came to love another just as much again.
– And I was just like that: “It’s a terrible thing to say! I do not feel well. It’s cruel! ”Driver recalls before adding:

–While Matt Damon married Lucianna Barroso with whom he has three daughters and a bonus daughter, Minnie Driver has been more secretive about his love life. Her son Henry Story Driver (13) was three years old before she publicly revealed who his father was.
– We were not together, and he did not work directly in the industry, so I chose to protect him and prevent a wealth of publicity, she has said about the reason for the secrecy.

Found love
Driver, the daughter of millionaire Ronnie Driver, was born out of wedlock without her father’s wife and their joint daughter knowing about Minnie’s family.
Today, Driver is with filmmaker Addison O’Dea (42). The two are reported to have become engaged in 2019.
He recently posted a picture of Minnie Driver sunbathing on a beach in Barbados with a dog lying on top of her.
– We find a beautiful, empty, windy beach on the birthday. But then my girlfriend gets stolen by this bitch. I mean, as long as @driverminnie is happy? I did not give up so easily – tried to make us a couple of trees. This was the response …., writes Addison O’Dea (42) humorously with a view to polygamy.
The picture shows a laughing Driver, while the stray dog that has seized her either territorially or in a yawn spots teeth towards her boyfriend.
