Wartsila is available to collaborate with the institutions to evaluate the expressions of interest for the reindustrialization of the Bagnoli della Rosandra (Trieste) site against solidarity contracts for all employees until the end of the year and, therefore, extending the commitment not to proceed with layoffs until 31 December and no longer until 30 September. The addendum to the November agreement provides for it, discussed today during a table on the Wartsila dispute – convened by videoconference by Mimit and attended by the Government, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, trade unions, Confindustria Alto Adriatico and the company – and signed in the evening. In recent days, an expression of interest in the Trieste production site by Mitsubishi with Ansaldo Energia had reached Wartsila, the Government and the Fvg Region. During the table, the unions asked that the government’s commitment to summon all the parties to verify the progress of the expression of interest by 30 September be added to the text of the addendum. At the end of the table, in the mid-afternoon, negotiations between the trade unions and Wartsila began to reach an agreement on solidarity, which will affect 299 workers starting tomorrow, 1 August. The addendum underlines the common objective of the negotiation: “to guarantee the industrial vocation of the factory dedicated to the assembly of engines in Bagnoli della Rosandra, which must continue to be used for production of high added value, suitable for enhancing the high level professional of the workers and to reproduce positive repercussions on the reference territory”. As can be read in the text, Mimit and the Region in turn confirm their commitment to support the site’s reindustrialization processes. The addendum and, therefore, the extension of the duration of the agreement signed in November 2022 “are subject to the suspensive condition – it continues – of the positive signing of an agreement between Wartsila and trade union organizations regarding the use of social safety nets”.
