Warta Poznań strengthens its attack. On Friday, Marton Eppel, an 8-time representative of Hungary and former top scorer in the local top league, officially joined Dawid Szulczek’s team.

– Marton is a player with a similar profile to Adam Zrelak, he also works very hard for the team. He can keep the ball, which should give breathing room to our wingers and central midfielders, who will have more options – said Warta’s sports manager, Rafał Grodzicki.
– Our new player is a tall striker who plays well with his back to the opponent’s goal. He is also good in the air, which is certainly helped by his physical condition. In addition, he moves intelligently on the pitch and has good finishing skills, he added.
The signing of Marton Eppel is primarily a reaction to the injury of Adam Zrelak, who will return to the game only in the spring round. The Hungarian is 190 cm tall and weighs 88 kg. In his new colors he will play with the number “9”.
The 31-year-old comes from Budapest and started his football adventure with Magyar AC, from which he joined the academy of another club in the capital – MTK. He made his debut in the Hungarian league at the age of 18.
In his homeland, Eppel had his best time with Honved Budapest, with whom he became the national champion in the 2016/2017 season and won the title of top scorer with 16 goals. A year later he was bought by Kairat Almaty and in 50 appearances he scored 25 goals for the club from Kazakhstan, including: 6 in 9 Europa League qualifying matches. Outside Hungary, he also played for NEC Nijmegen and Cercle Brugge.
Since July this year, Eppel has not been associated with any club, after he parted ways with Diosgyori VTK (last season he played in 31 league matches for this team, scoring 4 goals and adding 3 assists; together with his colleagues, he won promotion to the Hungarian top league ).
For the last two weeks, the experienced footballer trained with Warta and played in two friendlies – against Wisła Płock (1-0) and Zagłębie II Lubin (3-2). In the second of these matches, he scored a nice goal after a shot from the penalty area line.
