Poland is ready to help Germany abandon Russian oil by using the capacities of the oil refinery in Gdansk. This was announced on May 2 by the Minister of Climate and Environment of Poland, Anna Moskva, before flying to Brussels, where she will take part in a meeting of EU energy ministers, writes Reuters.

The Polish government is reportedly continuing to advocate tough measures against Russia amid controversy over the use of Russian energy resources by EU countries. In this context, Minister Anna Moscow announced her readiness to support Germany in the hope that the EU oil embargo against Russia would come into force before the end of the year.

“As Poland, we are ready to support Germany’s de-Russification ambitions with our oil refinery in Gdansk. I hope this will be the last vote to block these oil sanctions,” she said.

The minister stressed that Poland wants to hear from the EU countries a clearly set date when an embargo on the import of Russian oil will be introduced.

We want this sanctions package to include a very specific and clear date and a requirement for all countries to be a complete package without any gaps,” Anna Moskva stressed.

Earlier, the Polish minister said that the main EU countries resisting tougher gas sanctions against Russia are Austria, Germany and Hungary, and that the EU must punish countrieswho use rubles to pay for Russian gas.

In turn, European diplomats claim that Austria, Hungary and Slovakia have already withdrawn veto on Russian oil embargo. According to the German ZDF, a key factor for such a decision was the German government’s statement of support for the oil embargo against Russia.
