Warsaw. The tram driver was beaten for telling passengers that they did not have masks

On Saturday morning, the police intervened at the tram stop at the Central Station. The tram driver was attacked by passengers when she pointed out that they were not wearing face masks.

“There are no regulations regarding the control of the number of passengers and masks. Today, around 7.00 in the city center, the tram driver told two passengers to put on masks. It started with insults and ended with a severe beating and a broken driver’s leg. Perpetrators arrested” – she informed on Saturday morning Karolina Gałecka, a spokeswoman for the capital city hall.

Maciej Dutkiewicz, spokesman for Warsaw Trams, told tvnwarszawa.pl about the details of this situation. As he explained, the tram driver was driving the 25 tram towards Okęcie. – There was a fight at the Dworzec Centralny stop because the driver noticed that some passengers were not wearing a mask. These passengers at the stop damaged the tram wiper. In reaction to this situation, the tram driver left the cabin and was beaten then – describes Dutkiewicz.

The police and an ambulance were called to the scene. Motnicza was taken to hospital.

As Dutkiewicz adds, due to the sustained leg injury, the woman will not be able to return to work for a long time. – Motornicza was also taken care of by the Warsaw Trams psychologist on duty, who appeared at the scene – he points out.
