Warsaw. Drone light show on the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.

On Friday evening, a drone show commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. The sky over the capital was lit up by 615 unmanned aerial vehicles, which formed 12 symbolic figures in a synchronous swarm.

Warsaw residents watched the show mainly from the boulevards on the downtown side, from where it was best visible.

As reported by the capital city hall, this is the largest show of this type in Poland and one of the largest in Europe.

Lighting effects in the colors of Poland and Warsaw

The drones rose to a height of 60 to 120 meters, creating four layers of light, then the show began. They covered large distances, created formations as wide as 200 meters. Viewers could admire three-dimensional formations, light effects, and all this in colors inspired by the national colors of Poland and Warsaw.

The show consisted of 12 symbolic figures referring to the Warsaw Uprising. One of them was the Polish flag with the symbol of Fighting Poland. Another figure that could be observed in the sky by those gathered by the Vistula was the Warsaw Mermaid – armed with a shield and sword, with an insurgent armband on her arm. There was also a symbol of the scout lily, reminding us of the huge role that scouts played in the uprising.

The performance commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.

You could hear the insurgents

The narrative of this spectacular show was enriched with true statements of insurgents, including: Wanda Traczyk-Stawska, Tomasz Łaszkiewicz, Eugenia Adamiak and Edmund Baranowski. The voices were made available by the Warsaw Uprising Museum from the Oral History Archive.

Each sequence of the show was synchronized with sound. The musical setting was the symphonic piece “Drones Over the City” composed by Karim Martusewicz, the son of an insurgent.

The whole thing was prepared by ASTRANATE, a pioneer in organizing professional drone shows in Poland.
