Warsaw and Krakow in the red zone? Today decisions on further restrictions

The Ministry of Health will today update the list of counties that will be in the red zone, which is subject to the greatest restrictions. Now there are 38 of them, including 6 cities: Grudziądz, Sopot, Piotrków Trybunalski, Suwałki, Kielce and Koszalin. The rest of Poland is in the yellow zone. It is very likely that, among others, Warsaw and Kraków will go to the red zone.

According to the announcements of the spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Wojciech Adrusiewicz, the number of poviats covered by the red zone may increase to over a hundred and there will be “probably quite a lot of cities” in them. From Saturday, 6 cities are on the red list: Grudziądz, Sopot, Piotrków Trybunalski, Suwałki, Kielce and Koszalin.

Additionally, it includes 32 poviats: Aleksandrowski (Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship); Janowski, Łęczyński and Włodawski (Lublin voivodeship); Bełchatów, Wieluński (Łódź Voivodeship); Limanowski, Myślenicki, Nowy Targ, Suski and Tatrzański (in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship); Otwock and Szydłowiec (Mazowieckie Voivodeship); Oleśki (Opole Voivodeship); Dębicki and Mielecki (Podkarpackie Voivodeship); Białystok, Zambrów (Podlaskie Voivodeship); Kartuski, Kościerzyna, Pucki, Słupsk (Pomorskie Voivodeship); Kłobucki (Śląskie Voivodeship); Kielce (Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship); Bartoszycki, Działdowo, Iławski and Ostróda (Warmia-Masuria Province); Krotoszyński, Międzychodzki, Rawicki and Wolsztyński (Greater Poland Voivodeship)

There were no such data in Poland. The Ministry of Health on Wednesday informed about over 6.5 thousand coronavirus infections from the following voivodships: Mazowieckie (1188), Małopolskie (1137), Śląskie (520), Wielkopolskie (508), Łódzkie (405), Kujawsko-Pomorskie (356), Pomorskie (344), Podkarpacie (319), Dolnośląskie (315), Lublin (256), Świętokrzyskie (255), Opole (233), Warmian-Masurian (196), West Pomeranian (175), Podlasie (174), Lubuskie (145).

The health ministry also reported that 11 people died from Covid-19, while 105 people died due to the coexistence of Covid-19 with other diseases. That’s a total of 116 deaths.

Further decisions will be made to introduce possible new measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, government spokesman Piotr Müller announced on Wednesday. On Wednesday afternoon, a meeting of the Government Crisis Management Team was held.

According to a government spokesman, the Wednesday meeting lasted almost an hour and a half. The current epidemiological situation in the country and possible preventive measures to save the health and life of citizens were discussed Müller reported.

From Thursday, October 15, in grocery stores, pharmacies and drugstores, the so-called hours for seniors. The ordinance introducing new regulations was published in the Journal of Laws.

On Wednesday, October 14, an ordinance of the Council of Ministers was published in the Journal of Laws, “amending the ordinance on the establishment of certain restrictions, orders and bans in connection with the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic.”

The regulation comes into force on Thursday, October 15th and is valid until further notice. It orders “commercial and service facilities” to serve only seniors, i.e. people over 60, between 10 am and 12 pm.
