Stephen Curry scored 36 points in three quarters and the Golden State Warriors crushed the Cleveland Cavaliers 129-98 on Monday night.
Draymond Green matched his career-high 16 assists and the Warriors delivered their eighth loss in a row to the Cavaliers.
Curry made 13 of 19 shots from the field and 7 of 11 triples and rested the last quarter, when the result was practically decided. The two-time MVP in the league has averaged 37.3 points in the last six games and doesn’t look worn out for a season in which he takes much of the weight of the attack.
But Green, who recently started playing center against injuries to James Wiseman and Kevon Looney, was just as crucial against the Cavaliers. Time and again he found the pass to teammates who were going to the basket and led a generous offense for a cumulative total of 34 assists.
Collin Sexton led the Cavaliers with 23 points. Cleveland made 38.9% of his field goals and was winless on his five-game road trip.
The Warriors finished the first half with a 23-8 series to go 64-54 at halftime. Curry had 24 points in the first half, and Golden State shot 54.5% (24 of 44) while holding Cleveland at 41.3% (19 of 46 shots to the basket).
