◀ Report ▶
The Oklahoma Sports Museum, which hosts the’Warren Span Award’, officially announced Hyun-jin Ryu as the winner of 2020, and evaluated that “Hyun-jin Ryu made an outstanding pitch to become a winner despite the difficult situation due to Corona 19.”
Ryu Hyun-jin led Toronto’s postseason advancement with an average ERA, second in strikeouts, and third in many wins among left-handed pitchers who met the regulation innings this season.
This award has been selecting one winner every year since 1999 to commemorate Warren Span, who holds the record for most left-handed pitchers with a total of 363 wins.
Kershaw and Randy Johnson each won four awards, and last year was honored by Washington’s Corbin.
This is the first time a Korean player has been awarded.
Hyun-jin Ryu was once again recognized for being one of the best left-handed pitchers on the job.
