Russia is today the “most direct threat to world peace” due to the “barbaric war” against Ukraine, says European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The statement comes after a summit between von der Leyen, president of the European Council, Charles Michel, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, according to the news agency AFP.

The war in Ukraine was among the topics at the summit, which took place in Japan earlier this week.
– Russia’s invasion of Ukraine does not only concern Europe – it shakes the core of the entire international order, including in Asia. This must not be tolerated, says Kishida.
Japan, like the EU, has imposed severe sanctions on Russia as a result of the war.
