Warning strikes on buses and trains in Baden-Württemberg | Regional

Karlsruhe (Baden-Württemberg) – Commuters beware!

Due to a short-term warning strike in local public transport, cancellations and timetable changes are to be expected in Baden-Württemberg on Monday (October 14th). S-Bahn traffic in the Karlsruhe Transport Association (KVV) area is particularly affected.

S-Bahn trains are canceled

The Verdi union has called on employees of the Albtalverkehrsgesellschaft (AVG), most of which operate S-Bahn trains in the KVV area, to go on a warning strike. The AVG network extends from Karlsruhe to Heilbronn, Freudenstadt and Achern. Thousands of commuters, but also many students, are likely to be affected.

School buses are also affected

According to the Verdi union, work is also being stopped around Wiesloch and Sinsheim. The employees at SWEG Bus GmbH (Südwestdeutsche Landesverkehrs-GmbH) are called on to go on an all-day warning strike at the Wiesloch and Sinsheim locations. According to SWEG information, school buses are also affected, but not all other SWEG transport, including the buses in the Schwetzingen area.

Telephone information is available from the SWEG service center on 0 78 21/9 96 07 70.

Verdi expects this to have a significant impact on local public transport. Signal boxes and workshops would also be on strike, said union secretary Marcus Zabel. But there will be an emergency staff.

Verdi demand: 350 euros more per month

In the collective bargaining round on the railway collective agreement (ETV) for 5,500 employees, the union is demanding 350 euros more salary per month from this October as well as inflation compensation of 1,300 euros. The employers’ association (AGVDE) had offered a wage increase of 3 percent from April 2025 plus 600 euros in inflation compensation. The employer offer is “completely inadequate,” said Verdi spokesman Zabel. Negotiations will continue on November 11th.

Also in others Federal states Warning strikes in local transport are expected in this collective bargaining conflict. Affected: bus companies, local rail transport, freight railways.
