In the collective bargaining dispute at Deutsche Post AG, the United Services Union (ver.di) is calling on employees nationwide to go on warning strikes on Monday and Tuesday. The walkouts extend to selected companies in all areas of work at Deutsche Post AG – letter and parcel centers and delivery. The warning strikes are accompanied by protest rallies in a total of ten cities.
“This is again a crystal-clear signal to the employers: The employees are ready to fight for their demands and are now expecting a round of negotiations that will end with a strong salary increase,” emphasized the negotiator and deputy ver.di chairwoman Andrea Kocsis on Sunday. It is incomprehensible why such a successful company is not willing to compensate for the real wage losses of its employees as a result of inflation. “Our members are taking to the streets because they simply cannot afford to lose purchasing power,” Kocsis clarified. At DP AG, almost 90 percent of the pay scale employees are in pay groups 1 to 3. The basic monthly salary in these salary groups is between EUR 2,108 and EUR 3,090 gross. These salaried employees are particularly affected by high inflation because they have to spend a large part of their net income on food and energy. The last tariff increase in January 2022 was two percent at DP AG.
ver.di is demanding a wage increase of 15 percent for the employees at Deutsche Post AG with a term of the collective agreement of twelve months. The training allowances are to be increased by 200 euros per month for each year of training. The work stoppages will be accompanied on Monday (February 6, 2023) by strike rallies in Berlin, Rostock and Munich and on Tuesday in Dortmund, Hamburg, Saarbrücken, Polch (Koblenz), Nuremberg, Frankfurt/Main and Stuttgart.
The collective bargaining will take place on 8./9. February 2023 in Düsseldorf.
