Warning strike on Tuesday: buses and trains should stand still in Bremen

• Verdi announces warning strikes in local public transport
• Many commuters across Germany will be affected on Tuesday
• According to the union, there are also strikes in Bremen and Lower Saxony

The Verdi union has announced warning strikes in Bremen and Lower Saxony in the wage dispute for employees in local public transport. Next Tuesday, buses and trains will be parked all day in many places. 6,000 employees across Germany are called upon to take part in the warning strike. In addition to Bremen, Hanover, Braunschweig, Wolfsburg, Göttingen, Goslar and Osnabrück are affected.

The union blames employers for the warning strike. They refused to negotiate a nationwide framework collective agreement for employees in local public transport. Verdi negotiates for around 87,000 employees at around 130 public transport companies across Germany. Among other things, this involves balancing overtime and shift allowances. The Association of Municipal Employers has so far rejected a nationwide uniform tariff regulation for local public transport.
