Warning Strike by Lithuanian Educators: Potential Real Strike to Follow if Government Inaction Persists

Andrjus Navicks, head of the Lithuanian Education Workers’ Union, informed that the warning strike will last for two hours.

Educators do not want to harm the teaching process, but only to warn the government, but if it does not act, then on September 29, a real strike will begin, which could continue for even a month.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Science and Sports of Lithuania Gintauts Jakšts stated that he respects the legal decision of the trade union.

“Although this path of dialogue has been chosen, I still want to talk, and the plan to raise teachers’ salaries twice next year – in January and September – is still valid,” the official added.
