Warning: Lightroom for iOS irretrievably deletes photos!

At the beginning of the week, Adobe Lightroom mobile delivered 5.4.0 – with fatal consequences for owners of iPhones or iPads: On Apple devices, the image management system deletes photos and presets at random. Particularly bitter: what is gone is gone – deleted photos cannot be restored. Fortunately, the serious problem only occurs under special circumstances, and a solution is now in sight.

At the beginning of the week Adobe released the update to Lightroom 5.4.0. Unfortunately with a serious mistake: Numerous users of iOS devices report mysterious data losses. Photos disappear into nowhere, presets can no longer be found. Meanwhile, Adobe has the problem officially confirmed. And at the same time, the all-clear was partially given: the loss of photos now occurs when Lightroom mobile is not connected to the Adobe Cloud. This particularly affects those users who use the free version of Lightroom mobile on their iPhone or iPad.

In the meantime, Adobe has added version 5.4.1 of Lightroom mobile, which fixes the problem. The update is installed automatically if the background update for Lightroom is activated in the iOS settings (default setting).
