Warning from Apple, which has released an update for iPhone devices

Apple has released the first of a new security update called “Quick Security Response” for iPhones, iPads and Mac computers.

These software releases aim to provide significant security enhancements to devices in between operating system updates. They can help fix vulnerabilities in software that could allow hackers to access your smartphone.

The first “Quick Security Response” has been made available to Apple devices running the latest versions of iOS, iPadOS and macOS, Daily Mail reported. These were iOS 16.4.1, iPadOS 16.4.1 and macOS 13.3.1, all released last month.

To install the first “Quick Security Response”, go to your device’s “Settings”, then click “General” and “Software Update”. You will see an option that says “iOS Security Response 16.4.1(a)” and below that a button that says “Download and Install”.

After clicking this button and then “Restart Now”, your device will turn off and then on again with the update installed. This will only take a few seconds, meaning it’s much faster than regular iOS iPadOS and macOS updates.

TWO SECURITY LOSSES FIXED

The rollout of the first “Quick Security Response” came less than a month after the release of iOS 16.4.1, which fixed two pressing vulnerabilities.

Both could have allowed hackers to infiltrate the device and “execute arbitrary code,” according to Apple. This code could have given hackers access to private data, gaining control over device functionality and installing malware.

The company announced that new “Quick Security Updates” can be used to “more quickly mitigate certain security issues” that are already abused or reported to exist.
