Snowmelt and rain have led to high flows and risk of flooding in Kävlingeån. SMHI has therefore issued a red and orange warning for high flows and flooding.
🔺 A red warning for high flows has been issued for Kävlingeån downstream of Lake Vombsjön to the sea.
🔶 An orange warning for flooding has been issued for Kävlingeån, downstream from Vombsjön to Kävlinge.
How can it affect me?
Flooded land by streams and lakes can affect buildings and roads. It can be dangerous to stay near the watercourse as there can be extremely high current speeds in the watercourses.
Roads, railways and buildings can be affected by flooding.
When?
The red warning for high flows is in effect from 12 noon on January 25th until further notice. The orange flood warning is in effect from midnight on January 26.
Red warning
Red warning for high flows means extremely high risk of flooded land in connection with waterways and lakes as well as in low-lying areas, with impact on, for example, buildings, roads and viaducts and extremely high current speeds in the waterways.
Red warning is the most serious level of SMHI’s weather warnings.
Orange warning
Weather warnings at the orange level mean that the weather can have serious consequences for winding roads and public transport. The weather can become a danger to the public and cause major damage to property and the environment. There is a great risk of disruptions in various services in society.
