It’s been more than two weeks since the new addition to the Counter-Strike family of competitive shooters was officially released after months of testing. But now the developers of the game are coming to the X social network with a message that is a bit scary. By enabling one specific function in the AMD drivers, you can get a VAC ban in Counter-Strike 2.
In the recent Adrenalin driver update, technology support was added for Counter-Strike 2 Anti-Lag a Anti-Lag+. Their goal is reduce response and for this they use a method that limits the speed of the processor so that it does not overtake the graphics card in tasks. In the end, they can ensure a smoother gaming experience.
However, the unpleasant thing is that, specifically, in Counter-Strike 2, this function modifies game DLL files, which may be considered tampering by Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC). Plain and simple, cheater protection can theoretically consider you a cheater and ban you as a result. That’s why the CS2 developers strongly warn against enabling Anti-Lag in a post on X.
AMD’s latest driver has made their “Anti-Lag/+” feature available for CS2, which is implemented by detouring engine dll functions.
If you are an AMD customer and play CS2, DO NOT ENABLE ANTI-LAG/+; any tampering with CS code will result in a VAC ban.
Once AMD ships an update we…

As is well known, VAC bans are granted permanently and steam support can’t do anything about them. And not only will they deny you access to servers protected by Valve’s anti-cheat (that is, almost all of them), but they will also lock your game inventory. All skins or other items will become practically unusable, because you will only be able to play with them on a very limited number of community servers and they will not be able to be exchanged or sold.
However, the developers hinted that in this case, they will be willing to deal with unjustly imposed punishmentsbut only after AMD releases an update.
The report on the bans awarded using the graphics driver feature comes at a time when Counter-Strike 2 is facing a massive influx of cheaters. The Premier mode leaderboard is often dominated by players who cheat, or cheaters purposefully allow themselves to be pushed to the top. So it’s no wonder that the community is reacting to Valve’s announcement with words like “The game will ban people with AMD hardware instead of real cheaters”.
