Warning about artificial nails … “risks that can lead to cancer”

Dermatologist Dr. Karina Nasr warned, in an interview with Al Hurra TV, that the use of artificial nails by women and girls, such as acrylic nails or gel nails, is accompanied by many health risks.

The doctor pointed out that the adhesive gel used to attach these nails “impedes the ventilation of the pores of the skin, which increases the frequency of infections and fungi in these areas,” not to mention other risks.

Nasr noted that most of these nails contain formaldehyde, explaining that “this dangerous chemical compound increases the incidence of skin cancer and causes skin burns. “

She also pointed out that the use of UV light technology to dry nail polish “affects the DNA in the nail area, as well as increasing the risk of skin cancer, especially if the process is repeated regularly every week. “

Regarding using permanent types of nail polish (gel), Nasr replied: “This weakens the elasticity of the nails, makes them weak, and reduces oxygenation (cellular respiration) due to clogged pores.”

The doctor warned that the continuous use of artificial nails “leads to the thinning of natural nails due to the removal of the outer layer with each installation process, so, over time, the woman will ‘ loss of her natural nails. “

The doctor joked: “I know a lot of girls will hate me for talking about this subject, but their health comes first. “

Nasr suggested using henna to decorate nails as a healthy option, instead of using artificial things or using polish, whether it’s gel or traditional polish.

Among other harms, according to Nasr, female workers in the profession of installing and decorating artificial nails are exposed to many diseases, such as asthma and headaches, as a result of breathing a- indoors and being exposed to the rays of harmful chemicals over a long period of time.
