Warner reveals opening scene for film on YouTube

This December 15, 2020, Warner Bros. uploaded the debut of Wonder Woman 1984. The footage lasts a little over 3 minutes and shows Diana Prince (child, played by Lilly Aspell) attending a competition in a huge amphitheater on Themyscira, the legendary island of the Amazons.

During the flashback, Diana seeks to compete despite warnings from her trainer (Robin Wright). The film then takes us to 1984 with an adult Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot). The vigilante confronts gangsters, avoids a bullet in the middle of the desert and has fun with her magic lasso. We also see Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), the love interest of the heroine, in a scene probably set in the 40s / 50s. Everything is punctuated by the soundtrack of the famous Hanz Zimmer.

Release in 2021 in cinemas in France

In this second installment of the Wonder Woman saga, the Amazon will face Barbara Minerva (aka Cheetah in the comics) and Max Lord, an individual capable of controlling the thoughts of other humans. In the comics, he is above all an opponent of the Justice League, a coalition of superheroes formed by Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Flash.

At the same time, the first press reviews of Patty Jenkins’ film appeared on the web. Most critics speak of honorable and efficient entertainment. With 86 reviews taken into account, the film was awarded88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

As a reminder, Wonder Woman 1984 was to be released in French cinemas this Wednesday, December 16, 2020. The health situation is still worrying, the government has preferred to postpone the reopening of cinemas. De facto, the film’s release is postponed to 2021. We imagine that Warner Bros. will offer the film in French theaters as soon as possible. In the United States, however, the feature film DC Comics will be released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max from December 25, 2020. In Europe, the streaming service will be available from next year.
