Warner Bros. postpones Dune remake to fall 2021 due to corona crisis’ | NOW

Warner Bros. has decided the movie Dune postponed to next year due to the corona virus. The blockbuster was originally scheduled for December 18, reports The Hollywood Reporter Monday.

An exact new release date has not yet been announced by Warner Bros., but the movie website reports it will likely be October 2021.

Dune is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrivals). The film is the first part of a six-part science fiction series. The film and the books tell of a man whose father is murdered, after which he must fight the killers and their leader. In 1984 the books were already part of a film adaptation directed by David Lynch.

The lead roles in Dune are played by Josh Brolin, Timothée Chalamet and Javier Bardem.

It’s the second blockbuster postponed this week. Earlier it was already the new James Bond film No Time To Die moved to the spring of 2021.

With postponing Dune the film industry is again being hit hard. Cinemas are increasingly seeing planned releases postponed. Cineworld, one of the largest cinema operators, decided closing all cinemas in the United States and the United Kingdom temporarily this weekend.
