The tropical cyclone Seroja caused disasters on the land of East Nusa Tenggara. Now, BMKG is warning him of his arrival Surigae tropical cyclone, which has the potential to become a hurricane.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) explained that currently tropical cyclone seeds in northern Papua have developed into Surigae cyclones. This cyclone moves northwest toward the Philippines.
What is that cyclone Surigae? The naming of the cyclone was carried out by the Japan Meteorogical Agency (JMA). Previously, this cyclone seed was named 94W.
“As a result, there is currently an increase in the average wind speed in the northern region of Sulawesi and its surrounding areas ranging from 8-20 knots,” said BMKG Head Dwikorita Karnawati in Malang Regency, East Java, in a statement, Wednesday (4/14/2021).
A number of areas potentially affected by the 94W Tropical cyclone seed include East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku, West Papua, and Papua. In addition, there are areas with alert levels for potential flash floods in the next two days, namely North Sulawesi and North Maluku.
High waves of about 1.25-2.5 meters are likely to occur in the central and eastern parts of the Sulawesi Sea, the northern waters of the Sangihe Islands to the Talaud Islands, the Maluku Sea, the North and East Waters of Halmahera, the Halmahera Sea, and the North Pacific Ocean of Halmahera.
Meanwhile, high waves of 2.5-4.0 meters have the potential to occur in the waters of Raja Ampat-Sorong, Manokwari waters, Biak waters, Cendrawasih Bay, Jayapura-Sarmi waters, and the northern Pacific Ocean of West Papua. Meanwhile, waves with a height of 4.0-6.0 meters are likely to occur in the northern Pacific Ocean of Papua.
